UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation Eighth Annual Teddy Bear Run to Fund Child Medical Grants Oct. 13
The eighth annual Teddy Bear Run benefiting UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) kicks off at 7:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13 at Tivoli Village in Las Vegas. The race will be emceed by Mix 94.1’s “Mercedes in the Morning” host, Mercedes Martinez, and will include a 5K run and one-mile walk as well as music, games, community organization booths and exciting drawings. 

Before the race, UnitedHealthcare executives will recognize grant recipient: eight-year-old Cole Arnold, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the summer of 2017. His mother has used the medical grants to cover doctor visits, prescriptions and additional medical supplies not covered by insurance.

Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded over 16,000 grants valued at more than $41 million to children and their families across the Unites States for treatments associated with medical conditions such as cancer, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, hearing loss, autism, cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, ADHD and cerebral palsy. By the year, 2020, UHCCF hopes to have awarded 20,000 medical grants to children and their families nationwide. UHCCF grants are available to children who have medical needs that are not covered, or not fully covered, by commercial insurance. Grants are available up to $5,000 annually per child and $10,000 in a lifetime.
