Walker Furniture Supports “Project Firehouse: Rested & Ready” by Donating Mattresses to All 30 Clark County Firehouses in the Las Vegas Valley
Walker Furniture’s “Project Firehouse: Rested & Ready”
continues with monthly deliveries. Nine new mattresses, foundations and mattress protectors were delivered on April 17 to Firehouse 19 at 5575 Spencer Street near McCarran Airport. New mattresses are being delivered to all 30 Clark County firehouses in the Las Vegas Valley.

“Each delivery is a first-hand learning experience,” said Linda Alterwitz-Mizrahi, Walker Furniture co-owner, who has been at every delivery. At this firehouse she met fire investigator Earl Hawkes and was informed, “There are six investigators in the Clark County Fire District. Part of investigations include arson and going after criminals and determining origin and cause of fires. Investigators arrive at the scene with the firefighters. One of the main reasons they do this is to effect changes to fire codes and investigate criminal activities.”

Deliveries are in the process of being arranged for May, June and July next. For firefighters, the fire station serves as their home away from home. It’s been years since local fire stations had new mattresses because it was one of the cutbacks during the last recession. New mattresses help firefighters get “Rested & Ready!”
