Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Launches ‘100 Troop Leaders in 100 Days’ Campaign
The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is launching a campaign to register 100 new Girl Scout Troop Leaders in 100 days. The campaign kicks off on Monday, August 10 – National S’mores Day – and will run through November 18.
The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada (GSSNV) has an immediate need to fill vacant Troop Leader positions as the local council faces the impacts of COVID-19 on the local economy, job market, and pressures on working parents. The decision to start the Clark County School District’s academic year with distance learning has also had a direct impact on hundreds of local Girl Scout troops.
“Girls in our community want to be in Girl Scouts, but with the ever-growing demands put on parents, we have lost some of our dedicated Troop Leader base, ” stated Kimberly Trueba, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada CEO. “With so many activities taking place virtually, there is a need to connect and inspire the next generation. We are asking our community to make a direct impact on local girls by becoming a Girl Scout Troop Leader.”
In the 6-county area served by the Las Vegas-based council, there are 280 Girl Scouts troops. Girl Scout Troop Leaders fill important roles in the lives and development of girls: fearless leader, empowering role model, and innovative event organizer, among many others.
For new Troop Leaders who register August 10 through November 18, GSSNV will provide a new Troop Leader welcome package including their first three meetings in-a-box, first aid kit, and more.
Adults age 18+ who pass required background checks and take the required trainings are eligible to be Girl Scout Troop Leaders.
