Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Launches “Strong Men Support Strong Women” Fundraising Campaign
Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, the premier leadership organization for girls, announced today the launch of a fundraising campaign, “Strong Men Support Strong Women”. The goal is to raise $150,000 to help fund memberships for local girls by engaging men in the Southern Nevada community who support the empowerment and advancement of young women.
“As the father of two girls, I understand the importance of empowering Naya and Ivy so that they grow into leaders who will leave an indelible mark on this world,” said Dexter Fowler, Right Fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and Las Vegas resident. “I am proud to celebrate and lift up all girls in Southern Nevada through the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada ‘Strong Men Support Strong Women’ campaign.”
Joining Dexter Fowler in committing to the campaign are the initial ten ‘Strong Men’ donors: Rick Darnold, Jeffrey Fine, Fletcher Jones, Dick Rizzo, Dr. Morris Schaner, Brad Sugars, Humberto Trueba, Shane Victorino, and Benny Yerushalmi.
“Investing in Girl Scouts is an investment in the future of Southern Nevada. The strong girls active in Girl Scouts today will become the strong women who will lead Nevada in the future. I am honored to be one of the first supporters of the Strong Men Support Strong Women campaign and I call on my counterparts to lend their support,” said Fletcher Jones, Chief Operating Officer of the Fletcher Jones Automotive Group.
Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada (GSSNV) has served the local area since its founding in Boulder City in 1932. GSSNV is the only girl-focused organization in Southern Nevada that focuses on leadership development with programming focused on STEAM education, outdoor experiences, life skills, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
In 2019 and the early months of 2020, local Girl Scouts volunteered over 10,000 hours of community service. In June 2020, 15 Southern Nevada Girl Scouts were awarded the Gold Award, the highest and most prestigious honor within the Girl Scouts of the USA.
