Collaboration is open to artists who work in any type of physical medium

The City of Henderson is calling on artists to participate in a beautification project that will highlight the story of the community through the design and fabrication of three-dimensional art sculptures to be displayed in the Water Street District of downtown Henderson. Submissions for the project are due June 21 through the Nevada Government eMarketplace.

Visual artists who work in any physical medium may participate. Artists must live and/or work in Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah, and Idaho. In addition, the call is open to individual artists, teams of two or more artists and art magnet schools.

A budget of $61,000 will be split among the artists or artist teams selected. Short-listed artists will receive a $200 payment for their design concepts and selected artists/artist teams will be awarded up to $20,000 per sculpture(s).

Artists will be determined by a selection committee made up of members of the Henderson Arts & Culture Council, the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, and representatives from the City of Henderson departments including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Community Development & Services, and the Redevelopment Agency.

The Water Street District is a historic section of Downtown Henderson located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Water Street District is a unique setting where Main Street USA meets progressive, dynamic thinking. Water Street features a number of local restaurants and boutique shops, as well as the Rainbow Club and The Pass casinos.
