SNHD to Offer COVID Vaccinations to people 70 and older, Utility Workers

Appointments are available for a vaccination site for those ages 70 and older and utility workers that will open Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Chuck Minker Sports Complex, 275 N. Mojave Road. The city of Las Vegas, in partnership with the Southern Nevada Health District, is pleased to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations Feb. 17-19. Vaccine dosages are provided by the Southern Nevada Health District.

Those interested in the vaccine must register online at https://clvminkervaccinesite.youcanbook.me, and they should preprint a consent form to bring to their appointment. Participation is limited to persons age 70 or older and utility workers. The utility worker category includes those who are employed by providers of gas, power, water and sanitation services.

Advance registration is required for appointments starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. each day. This clinic will have a limit of 1,100 doses a day. Staff requests that people not arrive more than five minutes before their appointment, but also be sure to be on time.

“I know that many in Ward 3 and around the city have been patiently waiting to be vaccinated, and I am thankful that we can open this site at Chuck Minker,” Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz said. “We are prioritizing our senior citizens, and I encourage everyone who is eligible to make an appointment and get vaccinated.”

On the day of your appointment, please wear clothing that allows easy access to your upper arm. Please wear a face covering over your nose and mouth.

Along with the Minker site, the Health District also is providing several other vaccination sites throughout the city and additional information can be found at https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/vaccine/.
