The Mob Museum Adds Hand Sanitizer Production to Its Operation, Donates Product to Local Non-Profits
The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces the addition of a hand sanitizer production operation to its distillery in The Underground Prohibition history exhibition space. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum realized it was well-positioned to help satisfy the overwhelming demand for hand sanitizer for their employees and guests, and within the community, while creating a viable revenue stream to support its operations.
The Mob Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to advance the public’s understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society.
“We’re proud to have been able to adapt our operation to provide a valuable resource to local community non-profit partners, especially during these challenging times,” says Ashley Miller, vice president of marketing, communication and sales, The Mob Museum. “In addition to community donations, the Museum is excited to announce that we are now selling 1-ounce hand sanitizer bottles, customized bottles with business logos or messages, and commercial, gallon-size containers.
The house-made liquid hand sanitizer is produced with 80 percent denatured alcohol and mixed in the Museum’s distillery located in The Underground, the Prohibition history exhibition in the basement floor of the Museum. The Museum’s distillery team mixes the ‘heads’ and ‘tails’ of its moonshine with other high grade ethanol.

In addition to being available for consumers to purchase, the Museum has identified a number of non-profits with a significant need within the local community and has created a program to assist with donation requests. UNLV’s School of Medicine is among the local organizations the Museum has donated to.
“We are happy to see The Mob Museum demonstrating some good old fashioned resourcefulness during this pandemic,” says Paul Joncich manager of media relations, UNLV School of Medicine. “The hand sanitizer they are making will be a helpful tool in the UNLV School of Medicine’s classrooms and clinics.”
Beginning August 1 and running through Aug. 31, with every ounce of sanitizer the Museum sells, they will donate the equivalent to another local non-profit organization. Restrictions apply. Please check the website for details.
