Titanic Museum to Commemorate 36 Years Since the Discovery of Titatnic Wreck Site

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition offers local Nevada residents a discounted entry into the immersive experience featuring more than 400 recovered treasures. Observe the September 1 anniversary for $25 plus tax and fees. Tickets are available for purchase at the box office with a valid Nevada ID.
Detected two and a half miles below the Atlantic Ocean’s surface, a joint U.S. and French expedition team, led by Robert Ballard and Jean-Louis Michel, discovered the wreck site of RMS Titanic on September 1, 1985. This discovery ignited decades of conversations, still ongoing today, about the timeline of events that ended in the ship’s sinking, leaving only 705 survivors. More than 400 recovered artifacts are on display at Luxorincluding playing cards, clothing items, china, currency and much more. Also on display is the largest recovered piece of the Ship, a 15-ton section of Titanic’s starboard hull, appropriately called the ‘The Big Piece.’
Did you know? Most paper or textile goods recovered from the wreck site that are on display at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition were found in leather goods, which act as a virtual time capsule thanks to the leather treating processes used in the early 1900s.
