Tropicana Demolition: Date Scheduled for Iconic Las Vegas Hotel’s Implosion
If you’re a fan of building implosions, mark your calendars. An official date for the Tropicana Hotel & Casino demolition in Las Vegas has been set for later this fall
Reportedly, Bally’s Corporation will implode the long-standing Las Vegas Strip hotel and resort in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct. 9. If you want to see the Tropicana demolition, you’ll need to stay up late or get up early — since it’s currently slated for 2:30 a.m.
The Tropicana Las Vegas — a storied piece of Las Vegas Strip history — officially closed in April. Its demolition will make room for a new, state-of-the-art baseball field for the Oakland Athletics.
Bally’s Corporation and the Oakland Athletics, of course, are well aware that building implosions can be a spectacle that people will want to see. As such, the company has also added a fireworks show and drone show to the demolition festivities.
According to local outlet FOX 5 Vegas, the commemorative and dazzling display of fireworks will be engineered by Fireworks by Grucci. They will take place shortly before the building implosion.
As far as why the Tropicana demolition is scheduled for such an odd hour of the day, it’s because officials want to minimize the impact of dust and traffic disruptions.
