New Report: Las Vegas DUI Numbers for New Year’s Eve
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has officially released the Las Vegas DUI numbers over New Year’s Eve 2024.
Intoxicated and distracted drivers in Las Vegas are causing too many accidents, and local authorities are well-aware that the risk ticks up during major holidays like New Year’s Eve. As such, the LVMPD held a “DUI blitz” during the busy holiday to keep Las Vegas streets safer, according to ABC 13.
On Dec. 31, the LVMPD Traffic Bureau conducted “enhanced DUI enforcement” across the valley. Here are the Las Vegas DUI numbers from that blitz.
- 181 citations made
- 33 DUI arrests made
- 3 firearms recovered
“The message is simple: Do not drive impaired. There are no excuses,” said the LVMPD in a post on X.
Las Vegas is known for its easy access to alcohol, entertainment, and attractions. However, you should never drive drunk or high in the city whether it’s New Year’s Eve or not. According to the LVMPD Traffic Bureau, New Year’s Eve is a historically deadly night in Clark County, as the Las Vegas DUI numbers indicate.
“If you choose to drink, GET a Sober driver. Have a plan if you do choose to drink or consume marijuana to have a sober driver get you home,” wrote the Traffic Bureau in an X post on Sunday afternoon, right before festivities kicked off.
