In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, January 25, Ray J thanked fans for their support and prayers following his health scare earlier in the month. He described his health condition, revealing that “my heart’s only beating like 25 percent.” The “One Wish” crooner added that “but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right.”
The R&B singer, born William Ray Norwood Jr., captioned the post, “Just almost died!! I’m alive because of your prayers.” He also thanked family members, including his sister, singer Brandy, and castmate Shila Hasanoff, for their care while he was in the hospital.
Ray J’s update came days after he was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital following severe pneumonia and heart pains. The singer has battled pneumonia before, including a hospitalization in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and said he has faced serious health challenges over the years.
In the Instagram Live clips, Ray J also spoke candidly about what doctors told him about his condition. He relayed how one doctor warned, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me.” A friend off-camera urged him not to focus on that statement.

The update sheds light on ongoing health issues for the “Sexy Can I” singer, whose medical history has included serious respiratory and heart challenges. According to reports, his recent hospitalization was due to severe pneumonia that also caused heart pain. This prompted an echocardiogram and X-rays to assess his condition.
