According to reports, the veteran R&B singer remained under close medical observation Thursday afternoon. Doctors are monitoring his breathing and heart while treating the infection. Ray J’s current hospitalization marks his second serious encounter with pneumonia in just over four years.

In late 2021, Ray J was hospitalized after initially being suspected of having COVID-19. However, further tests confirmed pneumonia. At that time, the singer was placed on oxygen support and required more intensive care before recovering and returning home. Per The Express Tribune, he later told media outlets that the experience was frightening and life-altering.

The current medical emergency comes amid a flurry of activity from Ray J on social media.  Just weeks before his reported admission, the reality star posted on Instagram about an upcoming event. He revealed that the event will be held in Austin, Texas, on January 18, as part of what he described as “Stripper Bowl season.” It also doubles as his birthday weekend celebrations.

The caption made no mention of his health concerns, but fans quickly flooded the comments with supportive messages after news of his hospitalization spread. Also in late 2025, Ray J shared updates on a new television concept he called Celebrity Hitchhiker.

He noted that it was about documenting his travels and seeking authentic experiences on the road. In one December 2025 post, he wrote about hitchhiking across the country, hoping to connect with strangers and learn from their lives. Whether these travels contributed to his current illness remains unclear.

Back in November 2025, the “One Wish” crooner was in the news after countersuing his ex-lover, Kim Kardashian, and her mom, Kris Jenner. Ray J claimed that the pair violated a previous $6 million sex tape settlement agreement. The singer had filed the lawsuit in response to defamation claims by Kardashian and Jenner.

The “Love & Hip Hop” personality denied the reality stars’ defamation claims, describing it as “a public relations charade [with] malicious falsehood.” His lawsuit stated that the “The Kardashians” stars breached the contract by violating the provisions of the agreement they entered.

The musician also accused the mother-daughter duo of suing him to “feed their insatiable appetite for attention…” Currently, the lawsuits remain active, with both parties at loggerheads, while Ray J receives treatment for his health scare.
