2008 Red Bull Vegas Am Jam Skatepark Competition Finals to Feature Guinness World Record Attempt

The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services Office of Xtreme Sports in conjunction with Clark County Parks and Recreation will hold the 2008 Red Bull Vegas Am Jam Skatepark Competition Finals on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Doc Romeo Skatepark, located at 7400 Peak Dr. Registration/practice for the skatepark competition begins at 10 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m., Aaron Fotheringham will be attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive wheel chair back flips and a world record for the most wheel chair back flips achieved in 60 seconds. The officiates for this attempt will be a representative from city of Las Vegas Ward 4, city of Las Vegas Adaptive Division Manager Lonny Zimmerman and professional BMX rider Ricardo Laguna.

Following the Fotheringham record attempt the Red Bull Vegas Am Jam Skatepark Competition Finals for Skateboard and BMX will begin. The Red Bull Vegas Am Jam is a 10-event amateur series held throughout the Vegas valley skateparks. This is the final round of the sixth season of the series, which provides action sports events for more than 1,200 competitors and 25,000 spectators per year. At this final event, the organizers will be accepting 150 competitors. The cost to compete is $10 per category. Spectators are free.

Additional activities include an Army rock climbing wall, and food and industry related vendors. A free concert featuring the bands I Hate Kate, The Stript, and Hang ‘Em High will take place from noon to 3 p.m.
