Coaching Legends Fantasy Basketball Camp to Benefit the V Foundation Debuts at Wynn Las Vegas August 2011

Join “Hall of Fame” coaches Jim Boeheim, Lute Olson, Bob Hurley Sr. and outstanding coaches Bill Self, P. J. Carlsimo, Ben Howland, Tom Izzo, Tubby Smith, Jim Larranaga and Bobby Cremins, plus special guests Hall of Famer Bill Walton and Bill Raftery, CBS College Basketball analyst at the first Coaching Legends Fantasy Basketball Camp scheduled to take place at Wynn Las Vegas from August 13-16, 2011.

As a group, campers and coaches will play together, eat together, socialize and experience together the extraordinary hospitality of Wynn Las Vegas.

“Anyone who decides to attend the camp is going to come away with the basketball experience of a lifetime,” says Hall of Fame Coach, Jim Boeheim from Syracuse. “Equally important is the camaraderie and relationship building that happens during our time together.”

“It will be a special four days,” said Camp Director Ed Janka. “Besides our regular camper program, we also offer our assistant coach program for those who want to take part but not participate in the physical aspects of the camp.” Janka has coached basketball at all levels for seventeen years and has been running basketball camps since 1968, including the Michael Jordan Senior Flight School.

Campers will enjoy “off the court” luxury accommodations at Wynn Las Vegas as well as a welcome cocktail reception, private dining with other participants, a closing ceremonial awards brunch, photo with coaches and an autograph session.

The Coaching Legends Fantasy Basketball Camp is open to men and women 30 years of age or older. The fee is $12,000. A portion of the camp’s proceeds will benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research, founded by Jim Valvano the former NC State basketball coach and award-winning-broadcaster.

Background
Coaching Legends Fantasy Basketball Camp begins where Michael Jordan’s Senior Flight School left off.

As the premier fantasy camp founded by basketball’s most famous and successful player, Senior Flight School attracted the most renowned coaches and celebrity guests in the game. Its prestige and stature commanded the highest entry fee of all fantasy camps, attracting only the most passionate and financially successful “campers”. Still, the quality of the coaching staff and luxurious venues left a long list of aspirants waiting for an opening.

Today the camp continues. Not as Flight School with its expensive bragging rights to play briefly with MJ, but as a camp that recognizes the legendary coaches, real competition, professional officiating, and the best equipment were at the heart of the appeal. It’s about playing the game, once again, at the highest level.
