Four Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters Added to Back-to-School Bash at LVMS Aug. 20-21

Joining Monster Trucks Bigfoot and Ms. Bigfoot, Jet Cars, the world’s biggest names in professional drifting and the Wicked HP Drag Racing Series at The Strip at LVMS’s Back-to-School Bash will be a quartet of nitro-burning, ground-pounding old-school “diggers.”

Topping the bill is Brendan Murry’s “Running Wild” from San Jose, Calif. Murry is the series’ six-time champion. Joining Murry will be Bob Richardson’s “Circuit Breaker,” Mike Fuller’s “Forever Young” and San Diego’s Rick White aboard Chuck Neil’s front-motored rail dragster. The ever-popular nostalgia racers blaze the quarter mile at speeds in excess of 250 mph.

The show at The Strip at LVMS will include Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters, Monster Trucks, Jet Dragsters and Jet Cars and the Wicked HP bracket-racing series.

While the straight-line action takes place on America’s Greatest Drag Strip, the fastest drifting course in the U.S. will be consumed with smoke and the sound of spinning tires as the Formula DRIFT Series (www.formulad.com) makes its third annual visit to Las Vegas.

Tanner Foust won last year’s Formula DRIFT meet in Las Vegas in his Rockstar/Hankook Scion Racing tC. The international drifting series attracts the top competitors from the U.S., Japan, Ireland and Sweden.

Fans may save $5 on each Back-to-School Bash ticket if they are purchased before Aug. 19.

Friday, Aug. 20
4 p.m. – Spectator gates open.
4 p.m. – Formula DRIFT Pro-Am practice and qualifying.
5-9 p.m. – Wicked HP Drag Racing Series Test ‘n’ Tune.
7 p.m. – Formula DRIFT professional practice.
9 p.m. – Formula DRIFT professional qualifying.
9:30 p.m. – Dodge Midnight Mayhem credential sales and technical inspection.
10 p.m.-2 a.m. – Dodge Midnight Mayhem.

Saturday, Aug. 21
4 p.m. – Spectator gates open.
5 p.m. – Formula DRIFT Pro-Am Top 8.
5-8 p.m. – Wicked HP Series bracket time trials.
6-9 p.m. – Second round of Formula DRIFT professional drifting.

8-9:30 p.m. – Back-to-School Bash (on the drag strip). Jet Cars vs. Jet Dragsters. Bigfoot vs. Ms. Bigfoot. KOMP-FM van crush. Jr. Dragster exhibition. Formula DRIFT parade. Wicked HP Series Money Run. Second round of Jet Cars vs. Jet Dragsters. Second round of Bigfoot vs. Ms. Bigfoot (freestyle car crushing).

9:30 p.m. – Formula DRIFT opening ceremonies.
9:30-11:30 – Wicked HP Drag Racing Series eliminations.
10-11:45 p.m. – Formula DRIFT main competition.
Midnight – Formula DRIFT trophy presentation.
