Girls on the Run Las Vegas Announces Fall 5K: Gingerbread (Wo)Man Dash December 1

In the whimsical spirit of the holidays, Girls on the Run Las Vegas announces its seasonal 5K run—the Gingerbread (Wo)man Dash, presented by Zappos for Good in conjunction with Bristlecone Events. 

The race will be led by Las Vegas’ fastest distance runner, Christina Vergara Aleshire, who will be dressed in a life-size gingerbread woman costume. Chasing her will be more than 165 girls and community runners.

Each year, the Girls on the Run hosts two 5K events, gathering hundreds of young girls from over 50 elementary and middle schools in Clark County to accomplish one common goal—to be healthy, confident and joyful. Each girl is paired with an adult Running Buddy who runs alongside them during the 5K. This celebratory, non-competitive event marks the conclusion of a season-long, experienced-based curriculum designed to develop confidence, friendship, strength and emotional and spiritual health in young girls—all while integrating running. The program provides participants with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal-setting at a young age.

Girls currently participating in Fall Season 2018 Girls on the Run program are already registered to run the 5K. Guests can register as a community runner if they are not registered as a Running Buddy or affiliated with a current Girls on the Run program participant.
