Poots, who attended Coronado High School in Henderson, went on to attend Southern Utah and later was signed as an undrafted free agent to the Dallas Cowboys. For the past two years, he has played for the Arizona Rattlers, where he led the team to consecutive Arena Bowl Championships in the last two seasons. Poots has now returned to Las Vegas, the city he calls home, to play for the Outlaws.
“It was a tough decision to leave Arizona for the Outlaws, but I grew up in Las Vegas and this is home for me,” said Poots. “This is the best decision for my family, and also I really like the team here. I’ve talked to Vince and he explained his vision and aspirations for a pro team here, and I loved his ideas. He also told me that I have to keep my long hair to be on the team, and I’m cool with that. I’m ready to get this party started and help the Outlaws become a winning team – one that competes for championships, puts on a good show, and does things the Vegas way.”
At Coronado, Poots was a two-time All-State wide receiver. He finished his career with a total 2,014 receiving yards, 270 tackles, 19 sacks and 8 interceptions. Following high school, Poots attend Southern Utah where he shattered records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. After graduation, he went undrafted in the NFL but then signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. In 2013, he signed on with the Arizona Rattlers.
