Las Vegas Wranglers and Orleans Arena Agree to Three-Year Extension

The Las Vegas Wranglers have agreed to a three-year extension with the Orleans Arena, keeping the ECHL team in Las Vegas through the team’s 11th season in 2013-14.

“I am excited that we have been able to sign an extension with the Orleans Arena,” said Wranglers owner Gary Jacobs. “This ensures that the Wranglers will stay and play in Las Vegas.”

“The Las Vegas Wranglers have been a tremendous draw at the Orleans Arena, and we’re looking forward to hosting them for the next three seasons,” said Executive Director of the Orleans Arena, Darren Davis. “The Wranglers are an important part of our core business model — providing family entertainment and outstanding sporting events to the Las Vegas Valley.”

The Wranglers are entering their ninth season since returning professional ice hockey to Las Vegas in 2003. The Wranglers’ run in Las Vegas marks one of the most successful terms by a professional sports team in Las Vegas.

The Wranglers play a 72-game ECHL regular season schedule spanning October through March each year, with the 36 home games played at the Orleans Arena.

The Wranglers open their 2011-12 campaign in Alaska on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 before its home opener on Friday, October 21 against the Ontario Reign. The home promotion schedule features many of the headline-grabbing promotional events for which the team has become known, including Rapture Night – billed as The Last Hockey game on Earth – on October 21, Over 18 Night on December 6, and midnight games on Tuesday, December 27 and Sunday, February 18.
