Paukovich (“Paw-ko-vitch”), 27, has spent the past three seasons with the Wranglers, collecting 17 goals and 50 points since 2010. Prior to that, the 6-foot-4, 209-pound center played two seasons (2008-10) with the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons, recording 10 goals and 17 points.

“I’m excited to be back and be a part of the organization’s new direction,” said Paukovich. “I love the city and the fans, and I’m here to do whatever it takes to win. I want to help make the Wranglers a championship caliber team again.”

Originally from Englewood, Colo., Paukovich posted 24 goals and 48 points in three years (2004-07) at the University of Denver. He was part of the Pioneers squad that won the NCAA championship in 2005 as well.

“Geoff Paukovich is a very valuable part of our team,” said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. “He leads by example on the ice and does what he needs to every night to help his team win games. He is one of the best penalty killers in the league, but will also see power play time every night. I’m very excited that Geoff agreed to return. Young guys can learn a lot from him.”

The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies. For the entire Wranglers schedule, please click here for a one-page PDF.
