Plaza Hotel & Casino to Host Las Vegas Pickleball Open Sept. 25-29
With a dozen dedicated pickleball courts next to its rooftop pool, the Plaza Hotel & Casino is the official hotel and title sponsor of the inaugural Las Vegas Pickleball Open, Sept. 25-29. A cross between tennis, badminton and ping pong, pickleball is the fastest growing racquet sport in the U.S., boasting more than 2.8 million players.

The Las Vegas Pickleball Open at the Plaza will offer a total of $25,000 in pro player prize money, split between grand prize, silver and bronze medalists.

“The Plaza has seen firsthand just how popular pickleball is,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “Thanks to our partnership with the city of Las Vegas’ Department of Parks and Recreation, local residents have a fun and convenient place to play. Having hosted other national events, the Plaza has welcomed hundreds of players from around the country and the world. Now, as the title sponsor of this tournament, we are excited to build on our unique reputation as the pickleball destination in Las Vegas.”

Players can register for the tournament online at www.lasvegaspickleballopen.com. Participants can also book hotel rooms at the Plaza at a special tournament rate, starting at $49 per night on the event site or at https://www.plazahotelcasino.com/entertainment/pickleball-open/.

Expecting nearly 800 amateur and professional pickleball players from across the country, the Plaza will construct special grandstand seating for championship matches that will be streamed live on the event website. Six VIP championship court boxes will also be available offering special food and beverage service.

The tournament will offer men’s, women’s, and mixed amateur doubles matches as well as men’s, women’s, mixed and senior (50-plus) professional doubles matches. Matches will be played from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with the scheduling of the championship matches to be announced. There is a nominal fee to attend the semi-final and championship matches, while spectators can attend all other matches for free.

Tickets will go on sale in September at www.lasvegaspickleballopen.com.
