Online registration is now open at girlscoutsnv.org. The Thin Mint 5K begins 8 a.m. and Shortbread Shuffle at 8:10 a.m. The cost is $25 for the Thin Mint Sprint 5K, and $15 for the 1 Mile Shortbread Shuffle through January 3, 2013, then the price increases to $35, $20. Registration after January 23 is $40, $25.

Team registrations are encouraged and awards will be given to the largest teams in the following categories: corporate, community, and donations raised; along with largest Girl Scouts categories: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador. In addition, awards will be given to individual age division winners male and female.

Open to the public, the post-race party features the annual Girl Scout cookie sale, and highlights Girl Scout programs that girls can participate in with their earned cookie money. Interactive booths include Girl Scout robotics, Camp Foxtail, Girl Scout travel along with all the fun and friendship Girl Scouts’ offers.

“Whether you are a competitive runner or just focused on your health, join fellow runners, walkers and cookie lovers for the most scrumptious post-race party and your first chance at Girl Scout cookies,” said Patricia Miller, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada CEO.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led financial literacy program in the country. As one of four key Girl Scout initiatives, Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy, the program teaches girls goal-setting, decision making, money management, and business ethics.
