The Raiders offensive line started this tradition three years ago and desires to keep their tradition going as they move the team to Las Vegas in 2020.

To help ensure families are fed this Thanksgiving, the Raiders’ lineman, each made a monetary donation contributing to the holiday meal boxes. Each box provides a family everything needed for a hearty Thanksgiving meal — including a whole turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, salad and a pumpkin pie.

The boxes were then sent to local non-profit charities for distribution to their clients.  Recipients of the food boxes include:  Communities in Schools, Veterans Village, Nevada Partners and Three Square Food Bank.

“While 1 in 5 children in Nevada do not know where their next meal is coming from, 40% of food produced goes to waste”, said Aubriana Martindale, Smith’s Corporate Affairs Manager. “At Smith’s we feel an obligation to help find a solution to this fundamental absurdity and we are proud to partner with our new home football team to create more meals.”

The packing event took place at the Smith’s Distribution Center in Henderson. The 482,000 square-foot facility provides more than 8,000 items allowing the grocer to ship products to Smith’s stores in the southwest U.S. and operates as a Zero Waste facility diverting more than 90% of waste from the landfill. Smith’s have a commitment to eliminate waste across their operation and create more meals through their Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.

The Raiders will relocate to Las Vegas for the 2020 season. The organization will base their training and business operations in Henderson and play their home games at Allegiant Stadium, located on the South end of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The Silver and Black maintains a global presence and communicate with the worldwide Raider Nation through the team’s official website and social media properties.
