Richard Childress Racing Teammates Ty Dillon, Brendan Gaughan Looking Forward to Smith’s 350 at LVMS
A pair of Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entries are headed to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Saturday’s Smith’s 350. One driver will be headed west with the car haulers, the other already is here.

Ty Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, is coming to Las Vegas from Welcome, N.C., with two consecutive top-five finishes under his belt. He currently sits third in the series points chase, just 59 behind leader Matt Crafton. The 2013 Smith’s 350 marks Dillon’s second appearance in Las Vegas. Last year, he started fifth, led five laps and finished 10th.

“We’ve had a lot of great race trucks this season,” said Dillon. “We’ve just had quite a few weekends where we’ve been hit with bad luck. The key to keeping this top-five stretch going is staying out of trouble and working hard to have a fast truck. We have a good book full of notes going to Las Vegas. I feel confident we can bring home another top-five finish this weekend.”

For Childress teammate Brendan Gaughan, Las Vegas is home. The driver of the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet has competed in 12 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at LVMS with one win (from the pole position, in 2003), two top-five and four top-10 finishes.

“It’s my home track week,” said Gaughan, who currently is 10thin the point standings after 16 starts. “The South Point Hotel & Casino is where most of the drivers and teams stay, so it’s a big week to have everyone around. We host our annual Speedway Children’s Charities Bowling Tournament that weekend for the teams and NASCAR will host the autograph session at the South Point, so it’s also a big week for the sponsor. For me personally, it’s going to a track that I love racing at and means a lot to win there. I’m hoping the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino boys and I can pick up another win there this weekend.”

Before it evolved into what’s known today as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, Gaughan – a Georgetown University graduate – was a two-time NASCAR Winston West Series champion and won the Winston West race at LVMS in 2001.

Both drivers will participate in a free NASCAR driver autograph session at the South Point Hotel & Casino on Friday from 7-8 p.m.

Qualifying for the Smith’s 350 is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, with the race starting at 5:30 p.m. Each ticket purchased also includes free access to LVMS’s fabulous Neon Garage fan experience.
