Before being opened to the public, the South Point Bowling Plaza rolled into action as South Point Hotel and Casino General Manager Ryan Growney, South Point Director of Bowling Operations Mike Monyak and South Point Arena and Equestrian Center General Manager Steve Stallworth took guests on exclusive tours of the facility. During guided tours, invited guests and media were treated to the USBC experience in the 350-seated squad room where each guest had photos taken in the official USBC team photo area before taking a practice bowl down the USBC stub lane.

The 90,000-square-foot facility, South Point Bowling Plaza, features 60 lanes, a 360-seat viewing area and two 167-foot state-of-the-art digital displays with static and animated advertising capabilities, spanning across the two 30 lane competition floors

“Our new facility is top-notch in the world of tournament bowling and was designed specifically for tournament bowlers with 60 lanes, the latest in bowling technology and unparalleled amenities for future tournament participants,” said Ryan Growney, South Point Hotel and Casino general manager.

Following a tour of the South Point Bowling Plaza, representatives from South Point, USBC, LVE and LVCVA rolled the first official shots. In lieu of a traditional ribbon cutting, red pins were placed at the head of each set and knocked out by Ryan Growney, South Point Hotel and Casino general manager, Chad Murphy, USBC executive director, Hugh Sinnock, LVCVA vice president of customer experience and Pat Christenson, LVE president, to commemorate the opening of the South Point Plaza Bowling Facility.

Guests were invited to experience the new tournament facility during in an open bowl after the unveiling event concluded. Professional bowlers, including Diana Zavjawva, Dave Wodka, Dan McClelland and Tommy Jones. roamed the lanes giving guests the opportunity to play the game with a pro.

Over the course of the 12-year agreement, USBC South Point Bowling Plaza will host several annual USBC events, including the USBC Women’s Championships in 2016 and the USBC Open Championships in 2017. The partnership will bring more than 40 additional tournaments, conventions and short duration events including events to Las Vegas such as the USBC Masters, USBC Queens, USBC Senior Masters and USBC Team USA trials.

The GEICO Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) World Series of Bowling VI is the first event to take place inside the South Point Plaza Bowling on Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2. For additional information, please visit the South Point Arena event website.
