Special Olympics Nevada Unified Athletes Earn the Spotlight During Halftime of WAC Championship Games
In cooperation with Special Olympics Nevada, students from Legacy High School and Liberty High School competed in Unified Basketball games during halftime of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship Games last Saturday at Orleans Arena.

Unified Sports brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to compete as teammates. It was inspired by a simple principle – that training and competing together is a quick path to friendship, understanding and inclusion.

Special education students and general education students from Liberty and Legacy High Schools had the opportunity to play during halftime of the women’s and men’s championship games, respectively. The athletes were welcomed by cheerleaders from the WAC teams and showcased their abilities in front of the Orleans Arena crowd.
