Spots Still Available to Hit Links with World’ Top Bull Riders
The Professional Bull Riders announced that they are hosting the Celebrity Golf Classic, benefiting Special Olympics Nevada, on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Bear’s Best Las Vegas. The field will include the top past and current bull riders in the world, including 1998 PBR World Champion Troy Dunn, Joe Baumgartner, Spud Whitman, Travis Briscoe, and riders competing in the 2012 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals on Oct. 24-28 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The golf tournament will support Special Olympics Schools Partnership Program, which is a unique educational program, available in the Clark County School District. Celebrating 10 years in southern Nevada, the Schools Partnership Program is about more than just sports. It is a valuable education program that unifies disabled and non-disabled students. For many it is their first opportunity to compete as part of a team. Non-disabled students participate as volunteers, supporting their peers during competitions, while helping to bring acceptance and respect to their campuses. Special Olympics Nevada provides a grant to participating public school district to offset the cost of the program offering all interested participants an opportunity to be a part of the program for free.

The Champions of bull riding are a great fit as Champions for our Athletes – both embody bravery, hard work, and tenacity in their own way,” said Maggie Schwarz of Special Olympics Nevada. “Our program is funded entirely through local support, and events such as the PBR Celebrity Classic. It is also a tremendous opportunity to help raise awareness for the abilities of our athletes, and our vision to see Special Olympics in every school.”

For the 19th year in a row, the world’s top bull riders and the fiercest bucking bulls return to Las Vegas on Oct. 24-28 for the richest bull riding event on the planet, the 2012 Built Ford Tough World Finals at the Thomas and Mack Center. The World Finals have a total purse of $2.2 million, including a $1 million bonus to the 2012 PBR World Champion, who also receives the coveted World Champion buckle.
The World Finals will consist of six rounds of competition featuring the top bull riders in the world and the best bulls. The first five rounds feature all of the riders against the toughest bulls. The scores from the five rides will be combined, and the Top 15 riders will advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round.

The PBR Heroes & Legends Celebration Reception will be held on Oct. 23 from 6-7 p.m. at South Point Las Vegas, and will be immediately followed by the PBR Heroes & Legends Celebration from 7-8:30 p.m. The ceremony will include the induction of 2012 Ring of Honor members Ross Coleman and Mike White, and the presentation of the Brand of Honor to Dillinger, the Jim Shoulders Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom Teague, and the Sharon Shoulders Award to Jackie Dunn.
The PBR Ring of Honor was created in 1996 to recognize those who have had the most profound impact on bull riding, both in and out of the arena. The 35 members share a common bond of courage, strength and victory. They have shown their dedication and support while playing a significant role in helping professional bull riding become what it is today. Honorees include the great Jim Shoulders, PBR founding fathers Ty Murray and Cody Lambert, three-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes, two-time PBR World Champion Justin McBride, and PBR World Champions Troy Dunn and Michael Gaffney. The Ring of Honor, the PBR’s equivalent of a Hall of Fame, is more than a fellowship: Each inductee is presented with a ring handcrafted of diamonds and gold bearing the PBR logo, the recipient’s name and the year he was honored.
Fans will have the opportunity to hear PBR World Champions talk about what it is like to earn the belt buckle that every bull rider dreams of obtaining from 10-11 a.m. on Oct. 24 at South Point Las Vegas. PBR World Champions scheduled to attend are Adriano Moraes (1994, 2001, and 2006), Troy Dunn (1998), Cody Hart (1999), Chris Shivers (2000 and 2003), Ednei Caminhas (2002), Mike Lee (2004), Justin McBride (2005, 2007), Guilherme Marchi (2008), Kody Lostroh (2009), Renato Nunes (2010) and Silvano Alves (2011). Past riders will also join the competitors in the 2012 World Finals for the Ultimate PBR Bull Rider Meet & Greet on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at South Point Las Vegas.
The South Point Arena and Equestrian Center will host the ABBI Back Seat Buckers Finals with performances on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Following the Back Seat Buckers performances, South Point Las Vegas will host the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals Kickoff Party.
South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa is the official host hotel of the PBR Legends Reunion. The special event on Oct. 23-24 will again officially begin the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. Fans will have an opportunity to meet their favorite riders, as every rider who has competed since the PBR began has been invited to Las Vegas.
