The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to Host Two NHRA Full Throttle Racing Series National Events in 2011

For the 11th consecutive year, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host two NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series national events.

The two 2011 NHRA event dates in Las Vegas will be April 1-3 (12th annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals) and Oct. 27-30 (11th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals). The April 1-3 event will feature fireworks and also will mark the return of nighttime qualifying sessions.

“The spring race always provides the excitement of watching Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car qualifying in the evening hours, with the nitro flames shooting high into the air from the exhaust pipes,” said Chris Powell, LVMS president. “The fall event allows us to take advantage of the annual Nevada Day festivities. These dates will allow us to further enhance drag racing’s premier series at America’s greatest drag strip. As one of only three tracks to host multiple NHRA events each year, we’re proud of the role we play in providing the best in drag racing entertainment for race fans.”

LVMS’s fall event also is the next-to-last race in the NHRA’s six-race Countdown to One series which will determine season champions in Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike. To purchase tickets or obtain additional information,
