Three Local Bands in KKLZ Competition to Entertain Fans in Neon Garage at Smith’s 350 at LVMS

Fans attending the Smith’s 350 NASCAR Camping World Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 25, can enjoy some of Las Vegas’ best local talent on the Neon Garage stage. LVMS will present entertainment throughout race day.

Beasley Broadcasting will showcase three local bands that competed in a Battle for Fest competition for an opportunity to play at KKLZ-FM’s Junefest 2010.

Darren Michael will perform on the Neon Garage stage from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Las Vegas resident Darren Michael has developed a futuristic style of rock ‘n’ roll. Michael has performed at such premiere venues as The House of Blues and the world-famous Whisky A-Go-Go. Darren Michael’s music and show are quite unique, featuring an artistic display of musicians and dancers. Darren has just released the first five songs of an EP titled “A Perfect Misery” and is currently completing the album. Leaving Springfield takes the stage from 2:45-3:45 p.m. Leaving Springfield is a band that draws comparisons to Weezer, Fountains of Wayne and Social Distortion. Proudly wearing its influence on its sleeve, Leaving Springfield brings a sonic wall of big drums, loud guitars and powerful lyrics. With two EPs and two full-length CDs released in the relatively-short span of three years, Matt Norcross (drums, keyboards, vocals) and Brent ‘BK” Kessler (guitar, bass, vocals) have established themselves as a songwriting tour-de-force and their live performances will leave you wondering how two people can make that much sound.

Forgotten Door will grab the spotlight from 4-5 p.m. Forgotten Door is self-described as a six-piece original band with a unique new sound tailored to those who enjoy songs they can understand and relate to. Its sound has been described as fresh and new classic rock. It performs its original songs at venues throughout the Las Vegas area.
