The self defense class is free and open to all ages and genders. Led by UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin and women’s bantamweight contender Miesha Tate, attendees will learn basic self-defense techniques based on the martial arts these champions use in the famous UFC Octagon. The class is the first of several that UFC will host at The Center, with additional dates to be announced in the near future.

Last year, UFC and The Center announced a partnership designed to raise awareness of the realities of HIV among young individuals under 30 years-old by launching an awareness campaign called Protect Yourself At All Times. The campaign features two key messages – get tested to know your status and protect yourself with safe sex practices. UFC athletes and personalities – including Griffin and Tate – continue to raise awareness for organizations throughout the nation that offer free HIV tests and educational initiatives, including The Center’s LGBTQ+ program, which offers incentives for getting tested.

Serving as a critical part of Southern Nevada Health District’s testing and counseling programs, The Center offers complimentary HIV testing and counseling to Nevada residents. Testing is available Monday – Thursday, as well as the first Saturday of each month. For times, visit www.thecenterlv.org
