World Cup Racing Event – “Cross Vegas” – at Desert Breeze Soccer Complex & Park September 21

Popular internationally, and gaining momentum in the United States, cyclo-cross is a fun, fast, frantic sports where riders tough it out on a modified bicycle on an intensive obstacle course. CrossVegas is the largest cyclo-cross race outside of Europe and it kicks off the 2016-2017 Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup season.

This year, racers from 20 countries (including cyclists from the Las Vegas cyclo-cross community) will face The Sandpit, the newest course feature at CrossVegas. “For our tenth anniversary, we re-designed the course so it is a fierce racing experience that provides optimum viewing for our 12,000+ spectators,” says Brook Watts, event organizer.
Cross Vegas is a family friendly event and is open to the public; the Front Gate opens at 3pm and the first race is at 4pm. General Admission tickets are $15 and children under 12 are FREE. Tickets are available in advance online at Eventbrite.com or at the Front Gate day of event.
For complimentary General Admission entry, event sponsors Audi USA, in conjunction with Audi Henderson and Audi Las Vegas, is offering a free ticket to anyone who can show their Audi vehicle keys at the Front Gate. There is also preferred complimentary VIP Audi Parking for anyone driving an Audi vehicle to the event.
CrossVegas’ VIP Hospitality Tent is sponsored by Audi USA and tickets are available for $100 and includes admission, food and adult beverages in a special viewing area.
CLIF Bar CrossVegas will include World Cup racing events for Women Elite, Men Elite, as well as a USA Cycling category race and the ever-popular Wheelers & Dealers Industry race. Wout Van Aert and Sanne Cant, both of Belgium, will be on the start line to defend their men’s and women’s UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup World titles.
“These cyclist are the best in the world and they are going to be right in our backyard,” says Bruce Balch, a competitor in the USA Cycling division race and local Las Vegas business owner of a Farmers Insurance agency that is less than two miles from the course. “This is a chance for a regular guy to race on the same course as pro athletes. There aren’t many sports that allow the same opportunity.”
