Just 37 seconds into the first, Wranglers defenseman Matt Campanale hit the back of the net for a quick 1-0 lead. The Grizzlies got on the board nine minutes later off the stick of defenseman Darren Rowe, who tied the game up with his first goal of the season. Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon and Grizzlies goaltender Ben Meisner held the teams scoreless through the second with Utah taking the 19-15 shot advantage.

Midway through the third, Wranglers center Eric Lampe scored a power play goal to regain the one-goal lead for Las Vegas. The 2-1 victory seemed certain until, when 2:06 left in regulation, Grizzlies forward Colin Vock once again knotted the game. After five minutes of overtime, which simultaneously included a Wranglers power play and two broken Utah sticks on the ice, the 2-2 score held. In the shootout, Fallon blanked the Grizzlies as Wranglers center Chris Francis and forward Andrew Sarauer scored, securing the 3-2 win for the home team.
