Golden Knights Game postponed due to COVID protocols
The Vegas Golden Knights’ Thursday match against the St. Louis Blues at T-Mobile Arena has been postponed.
The NHL made the decision due to a player and a member of the team’s coaching staff entering the league’s COVID protocols.
“The decision was made by the League’s NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups after recent tests warranted more caution while the League continues to analyze test results in the coming days,” the NHL said in a statement.
The Knights’ entire coaching staff was notably absent because of COVID concerns during their previous game against the Blues on Tuesday. Instead, the team’s general manager Kelly McCrimmon took over head coaching duties and was assisted by three coaches from the club’s AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights
The Knights were originally seeking to split out of their planned two-game series since losing to the Blues on Tuesday.
Despite some Knights feats including Max Pacioretty’s hat trick, The Blues’ David Perron and Brayden Schenn scored in a shootout to give the team a 5-4 victory over Vegas―leaving Vegas 5-1-1 since Tuesday.
The previous game was also notable for featuring freshly knighted Alex Pietrangelo against his former team this season.
The team’s training facilities remain closed out of caution and will remain closed until further notice.
The NHL is currently reviewing the Knights’ regular-season schedule and is expected to make a decision on next week’s games in the next 24-48 hours.
