Former NBA star Lamar Odom was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning. The 46-year-old was pulled over in Clark County for allegedly speeding more than 41 mph over the limit.
We’re told authorities also took him in for making improper lane changes before being booked on DUI and traffic charges.
Lamar Odom Arrested in Las Vegas After DUI Stop and Traffic Violations

The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested Lamar Odom on January 17, 2026. Officers reportedly observed the vehicle traveling at excessive speed on a Las Vegas roadway. In addition to the DUI allegation, court documents list two traffic violations, including speeding and failure to maintain a lane.
According to law enforcement, Odom was taken into custody and booked at the Clark County Detention Center. As of Saturday evening, records indicated he had been released pending further legal proceedings. A court appearance in Nevada is scheduled for March 17, 2026.
The Nevada Highway Patrol described the stop as part of an ongoing DUI investigation. Officials have not yet released blood alcohol content results or additional details. The public information officer for the patrol confirmed the arrest but did not immediately provide further comment.
Odom’s arrest in Las Vegas follows numerous past reports of legal and health challenges for the former NBA forward. Over the years, his public life has often drawn attention since his retirement from basketball.
Odom’s Past Run-Ins With The Law

The latest incident comes more than a decade after Odom’s first DUI arrest in California in 2013. In that case, he pleaded no contest and received three years of probation. The former star athlete completed an alcohol education program and paid fines as part of a plea agreement.
In addition to DUI charges, Odom has been open about long-standing struggles with substance abuse. Lamar Odom’s 2019 memoir “Darkness to Light” details a near-fatal overdose he suffered in 2015 at a Las Vegas brothel. In that incident, Odom’s heart stopped twice, as he experienced multiple strokes and seizures. “I had twelve seizures and six strokes. and was placed on life support before eventually recovering. I was on life support. Everyone I’d ever loved was looking at me through bleary eyes,” Odom detailed.
The two-time championship winner had a wake-up call through that experience and turned his life around afterward. He penned in his memoir, ‘The [overdose] made me realize I couldn’t live the way I’d been living.” After his recovery, Odom spoke publicly about the ordeal and his attempts to maintain sobriety. He has also discussed doing ketamine-assisted therapy as part of his path to recovery in recent years.
His Personal Life Played Out In The Public

The former Los Angeles Lakers forward’s personal life has also been widely chronicled in Hollywood. This includes his high-profile marriage to reality TV star Khloé Kardashian. The pair got married in 2009 after dating for 30 days. Their union eventually ended following years of publicized struggles with addiction and health problems. The year of Odom’s first DUI arrest was also when his marriage to Kardashian ended.
Odom has two children, Lamar Jr. and Destiny, with former partner Liza Morales. The couple also lost a son, Jayden, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at six months old in 2006.
