NFL star Maxx Crosby had an intense face-off with the Las Vegas Raiders team, which culminated in a decision to place him on the injured reserve list.
The development meant the star player would not compete in the final games of the 2025 season. The team announced the move Saturday, confirming that the star pass rusher will miss the remainder of the campaign as the Raiders prepare for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
Maxx Crosby’s Injured Reserve Decision Ends Season
The Raiders confirmed that Maxx Crosby has been placed on the injured reserve list for the rest of the 2025 NFL season. The news means that the five-time Pro Bowler will not play in Las Vegas’ final games. These include their Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants and the 2025 finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In a statement announcing the move, the Raiders said the decision followed consultations with multiple medical professionals. “After deliberate and thorough consultation with multiple top medical professionals, it became clear that this decision is in the best interest of both the franchise and the player,” the statement read.
The knee injury Crosby has battled since midseason ultimately led to the team’s decision to shut him down. “Maxx is the ultimate warrior,” the team said. The team, partly owned by Tom Brady, went further, stating that he has “fought extremely hard to compete each week” despite discomfort and limitations. Crosby has been one of the Raiders’ most productive defenders in 2025, recording notable tackle and sack totals before the injury limited his mobility.
Corsby’s Reaction To The News Caused Quite A Stir

In the wake of the team’s decision, Crosby did not hide his frustration. The 28-year-old player, who earlier insisted on completing the season, stormed off the Raiders’ facilities after learning his fate. The team’s head coach, Pete Carroll, spoke to reporters on Friday, relaying how Crosby reacted to the news.
Caroll indicated that learning about being placed on the injured reserve list left Maxx Crosby crossed. When asked if he was angry, Caroll noted, “It was exactly what you would think he would do, and he should do.” “I agree with him 1,000 percent on how he responded, and I [would have] responded the same way,” the coach added.
Crosby has dealt with his knee injury throughout much of the season and was ruled out of last week’s game ahead of the Giants matchup. The seventh-year veteran was on the Raiders’ injury report since week 12 when the team recorded a 33-16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Raiders Gear Up as Giants Clash Looms
The decision to place Maxx Crosby on injured reserve comes as the Raiders face a pivotal late-season stretch. Las Vegas, matching the NFL’s longest losing streak in 2025 at 2-13, is set to host the New York Giants, which is another struggling team. This would be a matchup that could influence the draft order for the 2026 season.
With Maxx Crosby sidelined, the Raiders will look to the remaining defensive personnel to fill the void ahead of Sunday’s home matchup against the Giants. In updates shared on social media, they announced signing defensive end Jahfarai Harey to the active roster. The showrunners also elevated wide receiver Philip Dorsett and running back Chris Collier from the practice squad.
