‘Cubism in the Desert’ Exhibit Debuts in Henderson
The City of Henderson announced it will celebrate innovative artist Dayo Adelaja’s exciting art exhibit entitled “Cubism in the Desert” with a reception on May 28.
Known for his cubistic artwork that ranges from nonobjective composition to rigid interpretation of everyday genres and events, Adelaja’s new exhibit will display oil on canvas pieces that are influenced by his roots in Nigeria. His style was influenced by El Greco, Van Gogh and Picasso as well as his mentor, author and painter Dr. John Biggers.

Adelaja’s collection features the utilization of shape, form and color to define our lives and the environment, including “THE FOUR SEASONS OF MAN: AN HOMAGE TO RODIN” and “JIMI R U XPERIENCED”, which is based on his observations of the ancient Athenian layout of the Acropolis as well as the magic created by musician Jimi Hendrix.
The reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall, First Floor, 240 S. Water St. and the artist will be in attendance. The event is free to attend with advanced registration using activity code 152452-00. For more information, visit cityofhenderson.com.
Dayo Adelaja’s “Cubism in the Desert” exhibit will be displayed on the 1st and 2nd floor of Henderson City Hall and runs May 20 through July 20. The exhibit is free to the public and will be accessible during normal business hours, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
