Las Vegas has officially become the host of the 2027 College Football Playoff National Championship.
The news was confirmed after a ceremonial handoff from Miami on January 20 at a press event. The game will be played at Allegiant Stadium, spotlighting Las Vegas as a major destination for marquee sports events.
Vegas Hosting 2027 CFP National Championship Signifies a Major Sports Milestone
The official transfer of duties took place in Miami on Tuesday at a press conference bringing together representatives from the College Football Playoff (CFP). Both the Miami and the Las Vegas hosting committees were present. A symbolic addition of Miami’s sticker to the CFP’s commemorative helmet showed the annual passing of the championship tradition to Las Vegas next year.
The ceremonial handoff came a day after Indiana defeated Miami at Hard Rock Stadium for the 2026 title. CFP Executive Director Rich Clark spoke about the city’s role in the future of the national title game. He shared, “Las Vegas is an exciting stage for college football, and we look forward to the year ahead as we plan for next year’s College Football Playoff National Championship there.” The event is expected to draw fans from across the country to Allegiant Stadium on January 25, 2027.
Clark also noted that Las Vegas has already demonstrated its ability to host global sporting events. To buttress his point, the top official cited past major events such as Super Bowl LVIII. Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, has quickly built a reputation as a premier venue for high-profile games.
The ceremony bore further symbolism, stamping Sin City’s hosting task. Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill presented Clark with a light bulb from the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign.
