The Washington Huskies baseball team wrapped up its 3-game schedule at the Las Vegas Classic with a 12-8 victory over Texas Tech on Sunday, March 2nd. After dropping their previous two contests to Texas and Illinois, the Huskies needed a boost, and they sure did get one.

Their victory to end the weekend comes on the heels of a stellar dinner the night before, courtesy of Barry’s Downtown Prime. Several key members of the UW baseball team; catcher Colton Bower, center-fielder Malakhi Knight, infielder Carson Crawford, and left-fielder AJ Guerrero, linked up with Circa executive Richard Wilk and were treated to an exquisite meal, which included appetizers, steaks, and desserts of a quality that only Barry’s could provide.

After indulging in their meals, the players were provided quite the “Vegas” experience. The Huskies were invited to be photographed on the red carpet and had an opportunity to visit the property’s rooftop lounge, Legacy Club, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Las Vegas. Following their Vegas VIP experience, the previously mentioned Huskies dominated the next day, and made Texas Tech “Bow Down”, as the UW fight song suggests. The extra protein seemed to give the Huskies a colossal boost in the power department, as the ball was flying all over the yard in the heart of downtown Summerlin, at the Las Vegas Ballpark, home of the AAA Las Vegas Aviators. Bower was 2-3 at the plate with a home run, a walk, and 2 RBI. Knight was 3-4 with a pair of doubles, a home run, and 2 RBI. Guerrero was 1-4 and also provided power with a home run and 2 RBI of his own.

After such a powerful performance, the Washington coaching staff heard all of the buzz about Barry’s Downtown Prime and had to experience it firsthand for themselves. Head coach Eddie Smith and his assistant coaches, Mike Gange, Connor Lambert, and Damon Lessler, all followed suit with their players and dined at Barry’s, therefore receiving the full Circa experience. The coaching staff was photographed on the red carpet alongside their friend Ian Ritchie Sr. (father of Atlanta Braves 2022 MLB Draft 1st-round pick JR Ritchie) and wife Tori. After taking in all of the glamour of the red carpet, the group toured the property, which features the world’s largest sportsbook, and of course Stadium Swim, the property’s year-round outdoor pool amphitheater which features a 143ft. mega-screen filled with just about every major sporting event you could imagine.

It’s safe to say the Huskies hit the jackpot to end their weekend road trip in the Sin City. Fueled by Barry’s Downtown Prime and Circa, they were able to build some momentum as they traveled home on March 4th for a match-up against the Portland University Pilots. Here’s to hoping that that fuel carries over because they certainly did not leave any leftover steak.
