Amerigroup Nevada
launched a five-stop road tour of its 320 square-foot mobile health clinic, which will connect thousands of community members to free behavioral and physical health services, preventative health screenings, and link local residents to free community resources that often impact their care.

“Since the day Amerigroup started serving Nevada in 2009, we have been committed to helping both members and communities at-large have greater access to mental and physical health services,” said Eric Lloyd, Amerigroup Nevada president. “Our mobile health clinic is just another example of how we are delivering on that commitment and bringing innovative healthcare solutions to the communities that most need the care.”

Amerigroup is partnering with local community non-profits, like Caridad Inc., which mission is to help end chronic homelessness in Las Vegas, and provides customer service based street outreach to the homeless. Amerigroup Nevada is collaborating with Caridad Inc. on a few mobile clinic stops to bring access to screenings and education that may help prevent or identify conditions that may need management or additional follow-up. “Caridad is excited to partner with Amerigroup as they bring their services to the community,” said Meredith Spriggs, Caridad Inc. chief kindness officer. “Often just getting to the doctor can be a huge barrier for our homeless living on the streets, which is why I think it’s fantastic that Amerigroup is willing to eliminate that barrier and bring the services to those we serve.”

Through this collaboration, businesses like the online shoe and clothing company, Zappos, will also be paying it forward and providing on-site space at its Las Vegas headquarters as well as tables and tents to ensure that participants have a shaded area while they wait to receive services. “It’s great to partner with Amerigroup Nevada to continue mobilizing other local businesses to bring free healthcare services to our neighbors here in Las Vegas, especially those who are most in need,” said Steven Bautista, Zappos P.E.A.C.E. promoter.

Each stop is open to the public and will include screenings for blood pressure, depression, dental, and vision. Additionally, other unique offerings and/or activities will be provided at select sites, including hygiene kits, school supply giveaways, activities for children, entertainment, and health demonstrations focused on diabetes prevention and obesity.
