Las Vegas Shriners Host Informational Reception and Celebration on April 9

After 85 years working to support the children of Southern Nevada, the Zelzah Shriners of Las Vegas invite community members to celebrate the life-changing work of Shriners Hospital for Children and the efforts of local Shriners at an informational reception and Western themed BBQ on Saturday, April 9.

The Zelzah Shriners and representatives from the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Los Angeles will familiarize the community with the healthcare services offered by Shriners Hospitals for Children to hundreds of children in Southern Nevada.

Special guest speakers include Terry Cunningham, hospital administrator for Los Angeles Shriners Hospitals for Children and Kaitlyn Hawkins, a Las Vegas community member and Shriners patient. Terry has a passion for medicine with years of experience within the medical field and will discuss the services and support the hospital provide Las Vegas children and why it is important for the local community to get involved. Kaitlyn is a Shriners Hospital patient. She and her mother will share her story of being diagnosed with Scoliosis at the age of 12. She has undergone two major surgeries, one to release the spine and the other to fuse it, and is on the road to enjoying a very normal and healthy life.

After the program, guests are invited to a Western style hoedown including a barbeque, live music and dancing. Tickets for the BBQ are $12.50 and can be purchased by calling 702.382.5554 or stopping by the Zelzah Shrine.
