Las Vegas DUI Crackdown Leads to Multiple Arrests

Officers from every LVMPD area command pulled in a concerted effort across the Las Vegas Valley for the DUI crackdown that carried on through the weekend. This consisted of the LVMPD Traffic and LVMPD 911 Communications. The effort also included personnel from the Henderson Police Department, Clark County Office of Public Safety, Nye County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada State Police, and participating phlebotomists.

Police said the goal was straightforward: improve roadway safety and remove dangerous drivers from local streets. As a result of the operation, officers arrested 25 people on suspicion of driving under the influence. In addition, law enforcement officials issued 233 traffic citations and made three other arrests. Per 8 NewsNow, Authorities also recovered one firearm during the operation. Meanwhile, officers towed 35 vehicles from area roadways.

Law enforcement officials regularly conduct DUI saturation patrols and enforcement campaigns throughout the year. These operations often involve collaboration between local, county, and state agencies.

Officials said teamwork played a major role in the June 20 enforcement effort. By combining resources and personnel, participating agencies increased visibility across major roadways and residential areas.

The operation also demonstrated how departments are using coordinated strategies to identify impaired drivers before crashes occur. In addition to DUI enforcement, officers monitored speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic-related offenses.

Traffic safety remains a priority for local agencies as Las Vegas continues to experience population growth and increased visitor traffic. Law enforcement leaders frequently encourage motorists to use rideshare services, taxis, designated drivers, or public transportation if they plan to consume alcohol.

Memorial Day Weekend Blitz Produced Even More Arrests

The June operation followed another major enforcement campaign conducted during Memorial Day weekend. During that holiday crackdown, LVMPD and partner agencies arrested 79 people for DUI-related offenses. Officers also made eight additional arrests connected to other crimes.

According to police, the Memorial Day enforcement effort resulted in 398 traffic citations, the towing of 92 vehicles, and the recovery of two firearms. Like the June operation, the Memorial Day campaign involved officers from LVMPD area commands, Henderson Police Department, Las Vegas City Marshals, Nye County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and Nevada State Police troopers.

Police issued a similar public safety message after releasing those results. “A reminder: we are towing vehicles and taking drivers off the road who are putting others at risk,” Metro stated at the time.

The latest crackdown demonstrates that law enforcement agencies across Southern Nevada continue to dedicate significant resources toward impaired-driving enforcement. Officials say those efforts will remain ongoing throughout the summer travel season as they work to keep residents and visitors safe on Las Vegas roadways.
