Las Vegas has always been a popular spot for a vacation, but it seems like even more Americans are planning to travel to Sin City this year.
A new Summer Travel Index report from travel website TripAdvisor indicates that Las Vegas is the top domestic destination for American travelers looking to vacation this year.
Here’s how the rest of the top travel destinations in the U.S. shaped up.
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
- Orlando, Florida
- Honolulu, Hawaii
- New York City, New York
Las Vegas may get an influx of people on vacation this summer, too. According to TripAdvisor, 95% of those that responded to a survey indicated that they were planning on traveling as much or more than last summer.
More than quarter of respondents also said that they planned to spend $5,000 or more on their summer vacations this year. Luckily for them, Las Vegas is an affordable place to visit — and one in which most visitors love their trip.
Many vacationers are also planning on taking more extensive trips, the data suggests. About 45% of respondents said that they wanted to take more trips, with 55% saying that they will travel for longer and 44% stating that they plan to travel more than seven hours to their destination.
Sin City may have some competition from those looking to travel abroad, however. The top travel destinations for out-of-country vacations were Cancun, Mexico; London, England; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in that order.
