Lost Dog Reunited With Owner in Las Vegas After Nine Years

A dog missing for nine years was reunited with his owner after a good samaritan found the pup in Las Vegas.

Gizmo, the lost pup, reportedly escaped his backyard in southwest Las Vegas Valley as a puppy nine years ago. In late July, Gizmo was found and identified through his microchip, according to UPI.

Judith Monarrez, Gizmo’s owner, received an email shortly after the pooch was found. She immediately contacted the local humane society, who confirmed that Gizmo was indeed safe and sound.

When Gizmo first escaped the backyard, Monarrez organized an extensive search and put forth a lot of effort to find him, including starting a Facebook group in an effort to locate the missing dog. However, years passed without the pup turning up.

However, the lost dog was found in Las Vegas and sent to the veterinarian. When an emergency tech scanned his microchip, his true identity was revealed — and his long-awaited reunion with his owner was set.

“They told me a lady, a good Samaritan, it was a woman who dropped him off,” Monarrez told UPI. “Something I thought would’ve happened years ago.”

Although the 11-year-old lost dog has long latent health issues, Monarrez said he is slowly recovering in his original Las Vegas home.
