The North Las Vegas investigation comes as another deadly shooting case moves through the criminal justice system in the Las Vegas Valley. Earlier this month, a man was booked into the Clark County Detention Center after police accused him of fatally shooting his father inside an apartment near Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue.

According to investigators, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Bruce Street after reports of a shooting. When police arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the hospital.

Authorities later identified the suspect as the victim’s son, 22-year-old Bishop Deshotel. Police said evidence gathered during the investigation led detectives to arrest him in connection with the shooting.

According to reports, the victim had gotten into a verbal disagreement with Deshotel when the latter allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot his father. He fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after.

Court records show the suspect faces a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon. Investigators have not publicly disclosed a possible motive. Deshotel, who was booked at the Clark County Detention Center, was scheduled to appear in court a day after his arrest.
