Las Vegas-Based Paws Patrol LV Rescues Puppies Stranded in the Desert
Paws Patrol LV, a Las Vegas nonprofit, has rescued a group of puppies who spent weeks in the desert without food or water, according to a new report.
Reportedly, a good Samaritan spotted the puppies just outside of Baker, California on Aug. 2 while stopping for gas. The person then contacted Paws Patrol LV, a Henderson-based organization that searches for, rescues, and secures animals.
Officials with Paws Patrol LV then contacted the gas station, which confirmed that four puppies were roaming around the desert for nearly a month. Along with having little to no food or water, the puppies were subjected to one of the hottest summers in the Las Vegas area on record.
After nearly five days and nights, volunteers with the animal search and rescue organization successfully caught the dogs and brought them to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), according to local media outlet 8NewsNow.
The dogs, whose origins are currently unknown, were apparently eating rocks to survive in the desert during the grueling summer heat. Now, however, the puppies are safe and sound at a Nevada SCPA after being rescued by Paws Patrol LV.
“We are so grateful for the Paws Patrol team that stops at nothing to rescue these abandoned animals,” Lori Heeren, Executive Director of the Nevada SPCA told 8NewsNow.
Reportedly, the puppies will be available for adoption soon. For additional information, contact the Nevada SPCA.
