Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, remains hospitalized and under close medical care. However, his representative says the longtime Las Vegas comedian is now awake and breathing on his own.
Per Page Six, Jami Schlicher provided the latest update days after the heartbreaking news about the comedian. She said Thompson is continuing to improve and remains surrounded by his family and those closest to him.
Schlicher also said Carrot Top has maintained his sense of humor during his hospital stay. According to his representative, he has shared moments of humor with members of the medical staff caring for him.
“Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people,” Schlicher said in the statement. She added that the comedian has also received messages from fans during his recovery.
Fans Rally Behind the Las Vegas Comedian
Messages from fans have included personal stories about the impact of Carrot Top’s comedy. Schlicher said some people shared accounts of how his work helped them through difficult periods in their lives. “Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery,” she said.

Extortion Allegations Come Amid News of Carrot Top’s Attempted Suicide
While the focus remains on the comedian’s recovery, newer updates on the heart-wrenching situation show that Carrot Top allegedly faced blackmail behind closed doors. According to court documents that the entertainer’s attorney filed, he faced extortion after being threatened with certain sexually explicit content.
Brian Evans, a former opener for Carrot Top, is reportedly at the center of the issue. According to Bitman’s filing in Broward County, Florida, Evans “demands immediate payment of significant sums and states that, absent immediate payment, a sexually explicit recording of Thompson will be filed in the public court file…”
The court filing also contained an email from Evans to Bitman demanding $500,000 “in exchange for resolution of all claims” against Carrot Top. However, Evans countered the claims in a statement to Page Six, revealing that the content of the court filings was “intended to be confidential.”
Regarding Carrot Top’s upcoming shows and recovery, several events have been canceled while he remains under medical care. Thompson has been a fixture of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for more than two decades.
