Fontainebleau Las Vegas is Officially Opened 16 Years After Groundbreaking

Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the latest addition to the Las Vegas strip, officially opened to the public earlier in December.

The 67-story hotel-casino is officially the tallest building on the Las Vegas Strip, and brings more than 3,600 resort rooms to the splashiest place to stay in Sin City. The resort, which saw its ground-breaking 16 years ago, cost $3.7 billion to build — second only to the $4.3 billion Resorts World.

If you’re not familiar with the Fontainebleau brand, the Las Vegas outpost is a sister property to the iconic resort of the same name in Miami Beach, Florida. Although it’s new to the strip, it may soon be ranked among the best resorts in Las Vegas.

Here are some statistics on the newly opened Fontainebleau Las Vegas:

  • 173,000 square foot casino floor with 42-foot-high ceilings
  • 1,300 slot machines
  • 128 table games
  • 18,000 square feet of high-limit gaming
  • 14,000 square feet of race and sports booking
  • 96,500 square feet of retail space with 35 high-end retailers

Like the Miami sister property, the Las Vegas resort features high-end artwork throughout the building, as well as bowtie designs — a nod to architect Morris Lapidus, who designed Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

The resort also features dining options like a trio of Miami-based hotspots: high-end steakhouse Papi Steak, Asian cuisine restaurant Komodo, and LIV Club, a high-end nightclub that ranks as one of the top-grossing clubs in the entire country.

Although Fontainebleau Las Vegas held a splashy and celebrity-filled opening earlier in the year, the resort is planning on starting 2024 with a literal bang. According to 8News, the property will join eight other casinos and resorts on the Las Vegas strip in launching fireworks for the New Year’s Eve party.

Officials say that the Las Vegas New Year’s Eve party, which will carry forth the theme “More in 2024,” is slated to be the “biggest firework show in the world.”
