Kelly Clarkson is embracing the single life, and she is not apologizing for it. During a recent performance of her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the Grammy-winning singer candidly explained why she has no plans to jump back into dating. Speaking directly to the audience, Clarkson joked that watching other people’s relationships has only reinforced her decision to remain single while focusing on herself and her family.
Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas Residency Becomes a Candid Conversation About Dating

The 44-year-old singer paused her show to answer one of the questions she says she hears most often. “People are like, ‘Oh, why are you single?’ And I’m like, ‘First of all, there are a lot of people out here making single look real good,'” Clarkson told the crowd, according to fan-recorded videos shared on social media.
She continued by explaining that many of the relationships she observes have convinced her that she is happier on her own. “You see relationships, and you’re like, ‘I am so glad I’m going home alone,'” she joked before adding another humorous remark about the peace of returning to an empty house.
Clarkson also reflected on what she believes is the biggest challenge couples face after the excitement of a new relationship fades. “If you are in a relationship, the hardest part, I feel like, is just keeping that fire alive and still dating,” she said. “And, like, still making it feel magical and not monotonous.”
Clarkson’s Love Life Since Divorce

The “American Idol” star has largely kept her personal life out of the spotlight since finalizing her divorce from talent manager Brandon Blackstock in 2022. The former couple separated in 2020 and share two children, daughter River Rose, 12, and son Remington, 10.
Blackstock died in August 2025 following a private battle with melanoma. Since then, Clarkson has focused much of her attention on raising their children while continuing her television and music career.
Last year, she also acknowledged that dating is even more complicated as a public figure, telling fans during another residency performance that romance can become “a dumpster fire” when celebrity attention is added to the mix.
Clarkson Continues to Embrace Honest Moments Amid Her Vegas Show

Since kicking off her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace, the “Stronger” crooner has shared anecdotal insights into her life offstage. Earlier during the residency, she made headlines after revealing she became ill following one of her performances. Speaking to concertgoers the next evening, Clarkson admitted she almost kept the incident private before deciding to laugh about it.
“This is TMI, but I’m gonna go ahead and say it,” she told the audience. The singer explained that she suddenly became sick after returning to her hotel room following the previous night’s concert.
Clarkson joked that she wondered whether she had picked up the foodborne illness cyclosporiasis after eating lettuce, although she emphasized that she had not received a diagnosis. Instead, she used the experience as another humorous story during the residency, earning laughter from fans, while reassuring them that she felt much better afterward.
