Brightline West: All You Need to Know About the LA to Vegas Train

Local unions in Nevada will soon begin recruiting workers for Brightline West, a new high-speed rail system that will link LA and Las Vegas.

In early January, the U.S. Department of Labor met with trade unions in both California and Nevada to discuss Brightline West, a monumental new task to build 218 miles of rail between Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada, FOX 5 Las Vegas reported.

Last year, the White House approved $3 billion in funding for the new rail project. It will be the first true high-speed rail system in the United States, and the first to be built with American union labor.

According to a press release, the rail system will link two iconic U.S. destinations with a train that will be able to reach 200 miles per hour with no grade crossings. The alignment of Brightline West will be within the median of the I-15 highway.

There will be three full-service stations along the route. One in Las Vegas, one in Victor Valley, and one in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Additionally, Brightline West will be fully elected and zero-emissions, meaning that it’ll be one of the most eco-friendly ways to travel from LA to Vegas.

When the project is completed, the Las Vegas station will include easy mobility options and access to the Las Vegas strip, as well as the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Raiders stadium.

The current timeline for the project to be complete will be summer 2028 — just in time for the Olympics in Los Angeles.
