Margaritaville Closing After Two Decades on the Las Vegas Strip

Iconic Las Vegas Strip bar and restaurant Margaritaville is closing after more than 20 years in a prime location on the Strip.

The Margaritaville location in Las Vegas has long occupied a street front space as part of the Flamingo. Because of that, the restaurant and bar is a key part of recent Las Vegas Strip history.

Reportedly, however, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has confirmed that the location will close on April 15. An employee at the restaurant noted that the reservation system will no longer take any table reservations after that date.

This isn’t the first time that rumors of Margaritaville closing have surfaced. Earlier this month, a social media post suggested that fans of the franchise visit “before the end of May.”

The restaurant, of course, is named after the Jimmy Buffett song. It’s currently owned by a hospitality group that extends far beyond just restaurants — the franchise also now includes hotels, casinos, resorts, cruises, and more.

Caesars Entertainment Inc., which runs the Flamingo, is making a wide range of food and beverage changes at the property. For example, the restaurant is planning to open restaurants by Lisa Vanderpump and Gordon Ramsay at the property by the summer.

It isn’t currently clear whether the Margaritaville brand will make a reappearance in the Las Vegas Valley, but the fact that’s its closing at the Flamingo is certainly the end of an era.
