‘Seven Magic Mountains’ Could Be Moving Out of Vegas

The colorful and popular Seven Magic Mountains art installation could be moving out of the Las Vegas area to a location farther north.

For those unfamiliar, Seven Magic Mountains comprises seven towers of color rocks — carved from Nevada limestone — stacked together. Reportedly, the attraction draws more than 1,000 visitors each day.

Although Seven Magic Mountains has become a visual indicator of Nevada and a much-loved tourist attraction in Las Vegas, an expansion of Harry Reid International Airport will require moving it to another location in 2026.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the colorful art installation could be relocated to a location in Washoe County. This is because the county’s Board of Commissioners have voted to contribute $500,000 to the installation and relocation of Seven Magic Mountains, which could partially or entirely fund its move.

Unlike the mysterious monoliths that have sometimes appeared in the Las Vegas desert, the art installation has less obscure origins. It was designed by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, and first opened to the public in 2016.

If you want to see the Seven Magic Mountains in Las Vegas before its potential moving date, you’ll have until December 2026, when it’s scheduled to be disassembled and relocated.
